Arb Skills WA has been established in Western Australia since 2020. The organisation provides quality training and assessment services for the arboriculture and land care industries to the South West and beyond.
Our skills in Arboriculture, Lecturing and Communication and the ability to diversify courses to meet the changing needs of community, environment and climate will support your workplace or career needs. Knowledge and teachable skills are the corner stone to developing programs of best practice to manage our natural resource.
Through the availability of quality training and certification, these skills will create long term employment in positions such as:

Tree Climber
Consulting Arborist
Plant health specialist
It will open up avenues for self-employment in Arboriculture and Horticulture, serving the residential local community maintaining green spaces.
We will deliver formal qualifications for upskilling or career transition also informal skills development for the workplace or community, and through school visits, we actively promote awareness of the industry and career options.
Our affiliation to ArbWest through Arb Skills committee appointment, has created many connections within Industry, not only Perth but throughout the whole state and most importantly the South West.

Jolyon Elliott
Jolyon Elliott, the Director and Trainer that is Arb Skills WA has been part of the Arboriculture/Horticulture Industry for 30 years. Initially trained and working in the UK his career quickly moved into training as a Lecturer at Sparsholt Arboriculture College, before migrating to Australia in 2004 to assist with the shortage of qualified Arborists.
Based in the Warren Blackwood region, Joly worked in the Arboriculture Industry both as proprietor of his own business and also as a contractor for the next 20 years.
Jolyon started Arb skills WA in 2020 with the focused goal of bringing quality Arboriculture training to WA. With exceptional delivery skills, Jolyon’s reputation as thorough and professional has allowed the business to expand. Through this business and Jolyon’s experience and expertise, there has been large scale industry engagement to improve, promote and develop training throughout Australia.
Over the last 4 years Arb Skills WA has been deeply involved in supporting the Arboriculture industry as a standing committee member and industry spokesperson for the Arboriculture Association of Western Australia (ArbWest) and for the Industry’s National Association and governing body, Arboriculture Australia (ArbAus). Previously, an executive committee member for the industry steering group and subcommittee member involved with qualification updates and school-based training.
Jolyon is also heavily involved in the organisation and judging of the annual International Society of Arboriculture’s WA state and national tree climbing competitions and has been asked to represent Australia as a judge for the international tree climbing competition being held in New Zealand in 2025.
